Milena Collins
Headteacher

At King Edward VI Northfield School for Girls, we believe that every young person deserves an education that opens doors, broadens horizons and inspires ambition. It is a privilege to serve as Headteacher of such a warm, welcoming and ambitious school community.

We are ambitious for every pupil who walks through our doors. We want our pupils to achieve exceptional academic outcomes, but our ambition extends far beyond examination results. We want them to leave us confident in who they are, excited about their futures and equipped with the knowledge, character and resilience to make the most of every opportunity.

I believe young people achieve their very best when they feel they belong, when they are known and valued as individuals, and when they are supported by adults who combine genuine care with the highest expectations. That is the kind of school we strive to be: a place where pupils feel safe and happy, while also being challenged to work hard, think deeply and continually improve.

We are proud to be a small school with a strong sense of community. Relationships matter here. They are the foundation of everything we do. Our size allows us to know our pupils as individuals, celebrate their successes and support them through challenges. We believe that when young people feel known, valued and supported, they are empowered to thrive both academically and personally. Alongside this close-knit environment, our place within the King Edward VI Foundation and Academy Trust gives our pupils access to the opportunities, expertise and partnerships of a much wider family of schools across Birmingham.

Our pupils benefit from a broad and ambitious curriculum, excellent facilities and a rich programme of opportunities beyond the classroom. Whether through sport, music, performance, STEM, leadership or enrichment activities, we want every pupil to discover interests and talents that will shape their future. Education should open doors, including those that young people may not yet realise exist.

At the heart of our work is a commitment to ensuring that every pupil receives an excellent education every day. This means high-quality teaching, high expectations for attendance, strong standards of behaviour and a culture where learning is valued and celebrated. It also means working closely with families, because the strongest schools are built on genuine partnership between pupils, staff, parents and carers.

Above all, we want every pupil to leave KEVI Northfield knowing that they were known, valued, supported and challenged; proud of what they have achieved and ambitious for what comes next. We want our pupils to leave us not only with excellent qualifications, but also with the confidence, character and determination to find their voice, exercise their agency and make a positive contribution to the world around them.

Whether you are a prospective pupil, parent, carer or visitor, I hope this website gives you a sense of what makes KEVI Northfield such a special place: a school where girls are known, challenged and inspired to achieve more than they ever thought possible. I look forward to welcoming you to our community.
